There are altogether eight families of descendants on Norfolk Island. They are: Adams, Buffett, Christian, Evans, McCoy, Nobbs, Quintal and Young.

Nobbs

Adams, Christian, McCoy, Quintal and Young are the actual mutineers of the Bounty. The others; Buffett, Evans and Nobbs arrived on Norfolk about twenty years later.

On Bounty Day, after a Morning Tea with the Administrator,  there is a best dressed family competition judged made by the Administrator at Government house.  The 1999 winner of the Enderby Shield for the best old-fashioned clothing was the Young family.

Government House

After leaving Government house, families and onlookers proceeded to the compound where family groups set up lunch. After grace, everyone "pigs out" at everyone else’s table. This feasting is followed by the younger generation playing a game known as "kill the dill with the pill". (A football game).
